The University of Algiers 3 hosted, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, a study day on the reality and prospects of the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation programme PRIMA within the IPTICAR project, at the headquarters of the Faculty of Information and Communication Sciences. On behalf of the University Rector, Professor Khaled Rouaski, the Vice-Rector in charge of External Relations and Cooperation, Professor Zakaria Hocine, received a high-level delegation including Italian experts: Professor Angelo Riccaboni, President of the PRIMA Foundation; expert Simone Cresti, researcher and international expert at the University of Siena and the PRIMA Foundation; and Mr. Stefano Fabiani, Resident Twinning advisor in the IPTICAR project.
The ministerial delegation and officials also included Professor Abderrahmane Yousfate, Director of Cooperation and University Exchange (DCEU); Dr. Loussif Sayad Mohamed, Vice-Director in charge of International Research Programmes; the PRIMA programme officer at the General Directorate for Scientific Research and Technological Development (DGRSDT), representing the Director General; and Mrs. Chader Samira, Vice-Director in charge of University Cooperation and Scientific Research Programmes.
The Zohir Ihaddaden lecture hall at the University of Algiers 3 hosted the proceedings of this hybrid study day (in person and remotely), entitled: “PRIMA and PRIMA2 reality and perspectives”.
During the meeting, participants discussed the opportunities and future prospects offered by the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation programme for research and innovation, particularly in strategic axes of national priority such as sustainable agriculture, water resource management, the food industry and renewable energies, with a focus on mechanisms to strengthen the participation of Algerian researchers and the internationalization of scientific research capacities within the IPTICAR project.
The events saw broad participation from teacher-researchers and permanent researchers, either in person or via videoconference.
